 Locking In We are finally here, at this point in the semester. The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are dropping and all students are eagerly awaiting the last exam and starting their journey home for Christmas break. I cannot wait for this moment of relief, knowing another semester has come to an end and that I earned my time off. These last 3 weeks move very quickly and before you know it break will be here. Even if it seems too far away at this moment in time. But with all the assignments, final projects and exams all lying in these 3 weeks it is essential to lock in and not slack off. Some deciding factors of grades are made during this time so I advise you and myself to just push through. It will be over soon.     One way to do this if you haven't done so already is to write down all the tasks you have for the rest of our time here.  Simternship The Simternship was a simulation that put us in the shoes of a social media marketer for a brand called Buhi. Buhi sold bags of all sorts to individuals mostly interested in adventures and good-looking bags for work. I thought this simulation was a really good way to help us gain a better understanding of what it takes to become successful in this field. It was not easy as one has to understand the objectives and goals but also understand the target market and which platforms yield the best return on investment and such. Having to answer messages customers sent also gave us real work experience and taught us how to deal with positive and negative comments in a proper fashion.     The thing that I enjoyed the most about this "game" is that there were tricks and ways to get more conversions. But you could only find this out through trial and error. Looking at past analytics to make better decisions in the future is what I thought really made this experience unique

  Marketing with TikTok – The Future? I think that we can all agree on the fact that TikTok blew up extremely quickly once it gained some traction. I myself am on TikTok quite a bit, especially when I have nothing else to do. Minutes on this app can turn into an hour rather quickly though. The app even implemented “You have been scrolling for some time now. Take a break.” Snippets to remind you to in fact take a break. This is where I present my case that one needs to find a unique technique to make ads on TikTok useful. As I believe this app has decreased our attention span so if an ad is played we will simply just scroll past it without a second thought.  Consistency gets tiring I am sure we all had dreams of all sorts when we were little kids. Even though these might have changed since, whatever your goal is you need to make sure that when working towards it you stay consistent. If you do not do so it will become extremely difficult to stay and remain at the top compared to your competitors that are consistent in their work. An example of this could even be these blogging assignments. Think about just how hard it is to stay consistent with these blog posts. It is not easy to post it on different days and stay consistent with delivering quality content.     Another example would be Kobe Bryant. He was arguably one of the three greatest basketball players of all time. But how did he get there? He worked harder than everybody else perfecting his craft.  Youtube Marketing This chapter is rather interesting because in my mind it is very difficult to market with YouTube. Not only do we live in the ad blocker stage where everybody wants to skip ads as quick as possible. Therefore you must present a solution before even showing off your product. I simply do not see the value or return on investment marketing with YouTube. This depends on what you are selling but it still seems unlikely that YouTube would be your priority for this. However, there are 1 billion hours being spent watching videos per day so I do see how one can benefit from marketing efforts on this platform if done in the right place.     In my opinion, the best way to advertise, again depending on your type of product, is not before popular videos but within. If one is selling merch or headphones or whatever it might be. First, find a popular influencer or vlogger who seems to have a similar target audience as you and gift them your product explaining to them your intention

 Stress Once again we are in a part of the year where classes get more difficult and the amount of work that needs to be done increases. Besides basketball picking up as we are approaching our first official game this Saturday against Kalamazoo College in Michigan. I have numerous tests and assessments in many of my classes to study for. Therefore this off-day tomorrow will be a huge part of my week. Hopefully, it takes some of the stress off me.      Not going to lie, yes I have been under some stress lately which does not help when having to manage many things at once. But perhaps that is where it comes from. Either way, I need to make sure to utilize my off day and get some things done in an effort to free up the rest of my week. Having more time for the remainder of the week is huge as Saturday is scratched and the entire day will go to the game. This means that I only really get Sunday to do the things I need to do. Life is such a beautiful thing but we are often so caught up in it that we do not enjoy it or appreciate it for its entirety. The feeling of the sun on a cold fall day on your skin is amazing but how many of us actually stop for a moment and recognize this. Or do we just notice it, brush it off and keep going on through our day. It kind of reminds me of when individuals are working towards a goal and forget to appreciate the journey. The journey is what makes that final day so special so why would you not enjoy it just as much or at least try to. Each of us has a very unique life yet in each there will be moments that could mean a lot that simply don't as we are unaware.     We should really enjoy our journey as we only get one and not one moment will be identical, maybe similar but not the same.  Live Tweeting During this last Homecoming weekend here at ONU I was indeed very busy or as some would say, had a lot on my plate. Not only did I have an exhibition game at Butler University. Predicted to lose by a lot we managed to fight and keep the game within 30. The experience was great, I mean we had 6000 people in attendance. Therefore the only day I was able to live tweet an event was that Friday. Good thing they showed a choir concert which I was able to attend. It was nice going out and seeing something I normally do not get to see on campus and I do believe I will be back.     At first, I was very skeptical about it but once I sat down and got into it I started enjoying it a lot. The different tones and the harmony of each piece are truly incredible when one puts it into perspective. The only instrument used besides the vocal cords of the singers was a piano.
