Consistency gets tiring
Consistency gets tiring
I am sure we all had dreams of all sorts when we were little kids. Even though these might have changed since, whatever your goal is you need to make sure that when working towards it you stay consistent. If you do not do so it will become extremely difficult to stay and remain at the top compared to your competitors that are consistent in their work. An example of this could even be these blogging assignments. Think about just how hard it is to stay consistent with these blog posts. It is not easy to post it on different days and stay consistent with delivering quality content.
Another example would be Kobe Bryant. He was arguably one of the three greatest basketball players of all time. But how did he get there? He worked harder than everybody else perfecting his craft. Doing the same drills over and over again. Sounds fatiguing right? Yes, it sure does, but this consistent effort is what made him who he is and got him his jersey retired and got himself conducted into the Hall of Fame. Not just him but all other professional athletes, famous movie stars or whatever profession. If they are good or well-known it is most likely that they were consistent in putting in the work necessary to achieve. Even when it seems tiring they get up and just do it. Being able to do is what makes these people part of an elite class.
It has been a long semester without question. School has been a lot and final exams are just around the corner. Sports has also picked up and planning for our future is something we now have to be more thoughtful of. I know we are all tired of all the work we have put in this semester. Having to be consistent for stretches of time is not easy so this upcoming break will be a nice treat for all of us. But it is important to note that after break it is easy to fall out of your routine and lose the consistency we have been working for so long. Being thoughtful of this is hopefully enough to keep it. Let us find out!
Wow, so true. One of my biggest learnings was "consistency always beats intensity" and "small actions every day over time mount to amazing results". It resonated with me when you mentioned it gets "tiring". Yes, it does! When I feel I let myself down it often helps me to remind myself why I am doing it. Linking the small annoying consistent task to the reason why is key. Bring it on. YOLO: you only live once...
