Who would have thought a simulation could be this much FUN!

 Simternship

Who could've thought a simulation of a job could be this fun. The closest I ever got to a job simulation was pretending to be a truck driver in front of my laptop. And that lasted a whole of three days. Starting off it is important to know that I have always had an interest in Marketing. Not just because my dad was in this field but also because I believe it to be an essential skill I will need to rely upon in the future. And Social Media marketing especially. The future is AI and computer/technology heavy and will keep going along this path. Therefore knowing how to correctly market your product in the social media world will prove to be crucial when one is chasing success.

In class we learn the background and basics to social media marketing and how to grow ones engagement and hand in hand hopefully if done correctly, revenue. A great tool to apply the knowledge we are gathering is this simulation we get to do in which you work for a company called Hubi which sells bags. You get a weekly budget to spend on ads and the company wants to see growth. Even more detailed this simulation gives us feedback on trends, insights on competitors, and many other useful resources we can use to help us maximize ad revenue. This in turn has been really fun. Although I am still figuring out and getting comfortable with all the controls in the simulation I am starting to see why Marketing is actually fun. It is a new challenge everyday. And everyday/week you are trying to learn from the previous in order to even further improve. What I am also really keen about is using the resources to my advantage. It is exciting when one is trying to find how different statistics correlate and how one can use this gained information to learn from and build upon. All this things come together like a big puzzle, it is a game of sorts and you are trying to reach as many people as possible, score high engagement rates, and see a great yield on investment.

Social Media Marketing just like Marketing itself to me is a game. One in which you have to be educated and willing to take risks. Learn from mistakes including others and build a strong foundation for future success. When one is willing to put the time and effort in to make the dream a reality one will see success. And in Social Media Marketing, with the amount of posting one has to take care of, it is necessary.
