In this chapter, we learn how to use Instagram accounts and strategies to grow one's audience and engagement rates which in turn yield revenue. It is important to note that Instagram is the Social Media Platform that has grown the most in the past few years compared to competitors, having billions of active monthly users it gives us the opportunity to reach people all over the world generating $43.2 million in ad revenue in the year 2023. Now that we know Instagram is a great tool to use we must learn how to use it properly.

    Let us start off by looking at the top competitors in this market. The top 50 global brands post on average 4.9 times per week whilst also paying close attention to the use of hashtags and word counts; going as far as looking at the best times to post. Doing so Instagram has become the social media platform with the highest interaction rates of ~ 30%. Another way to separate yourself from others is by making your content more visually appealing by using filters or simply editing posts before publishing them. Paying for ad spaces can also be a strategy one might use when working for larger or small private companies. Videos are also something you can use to your advantage, and remember you do not need to sell your product in every post, you can also publish stuff that hits your target audience not trying to promote (e.g. Red Bull). There are many boundaries one can follow to maximize the engagement rate but it is important to note that you have to continually analyze and adjust if you want to see success. Reels, filters, For-you-page, and many other tools within Instagram are key to understand the importance of such.

    Instagram is a platform that can be extremely helpful when trying to grow a brand and if one understands the algorithm and his/her audience it is a good start. Continue to learn and adjust as this is a rather new form of marketing so there is still more research coming out. Instagram provides you with many tools that you can use to separate yourself; amongst these are reels, filters, editing tools, and even call-to-action buttons linking the viewer to the website or a support e-mail. If one can make his Instagram visually engaging one can see major results from the time and thought put in.
